Message to Fifth Congressional District Citizens
The stakes are high as we go into the 2012 election. The current incumbent congressman in our district, James Lankford, has voted to end Medicare as we know it and has called for the privatization of Social Security. We will fight his attempt to kill Medicare and to alter Social Security.
The incumbent congressman opposes requiring groups that run political ads from disclosing their donors. It is tragic enough that elections can apparently be bought by the special interests, but it is even worse that our own congressman opposes letting us know who is paying for political ads and making million dollar bids to control our elected officials.
The incumbent congressman wants to prohibit automatic citizenship for children born in the United States of parents who are undocumented workers. This is not only mean spirited but violates the constitution of the United States!
The incumbent congressman opposed repeal of the don’t ask, don’t tell policy in the United States Military. We need to welcome everyone into the American family and encourage and show appreciation for those who choose to risk their lives in the service of our country.
The incumbent congressman supports extending the George W. Bush tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 each year. It is unfair to ask seniors to sacrifice, but to ask nothing of those who have benefited the most and have become extremely prosperous in our country.
We need to replace our congressman. He has now become a member of status quo Washington that he railed against. We can and we will do better! Join our cause today and help send a Progressive to Washington!
